At the moment, you cannot export a JS Chart to any file type (PDF, DOCX,XLSX).

You get the following message when trying:

This has been logged as an enhancement, though due to the complexity of implementing such a feature it has yet to be planned.

This may better be served as a problem ticket rather than an idea ticket. This Javascript chart export problem can make the chart feature useless for some customers. You can print to printer and then use the printer's driver to convert to PDF, but the issue with that is it will print only the chart part that is inside the embedded Javascript chart window. If the chart has more rows than what is shown without scrolling the window, it will not print what is hidden. This is a serious limitation. I hope Yellowfin escalates this as a high priority fix.

Hi Paul,

We classify a problem as something that was expected to work (from a code point of view) , and doesn't.

An idea is something that we know has not been implemented, so it's a feature request.

I can understand why it would seem like a defect/problem, though I can assure you it is an enhancement.

In saying this, none of if detracts from the importance of allowing it to be exported. Just not something that can be planned as yet. Sorry for the bad news.

Ok, no problem David. Thanks. Can you find out if there's a way to configure the chart window height so we can use the printer driver save to PDF as a good option for charts with a number of rows?

Looking into that for ya, need to speak to the devs as they are a lot smarter than me.

Hi David,

Has there been any progress with this idea?

Hi Hamish,

Not at yet, however something that will be reviewed in the next 6 months, as we might be incorporating this with another module revamp.

Will keep you posted on the changes, though at this point I don't really have anything further to add sorry.

David

Our clients want several javascript plots and they would like to be able to export them at least as pdf, I would not like to tell them to do screen captures.

Thanks

Hi Julia,

Exporting JS charts to PDF is now supported in YF V9. At the same time, depending on the chart, the layout may differ slightly on the PDF itself.

This is the reason why the idea is still open, as while it does work, there are a few things we need to confirm as expected/not expected and document.

Though, for now you can move to Yellowfin V9 and export to PDF, if you face any issues with your exports just let us know.

Thanks,

David
